Carlotta Viti grew up in Bologna, where in 1992 she graduated in foreign languages and literature at the International Languages Institute. Then she studied Physiotherapy at the University of Modena where in 1999 she obtained her Bachelor degree (110/110) by defending the experimental thesis on the “use of different kinds of splint in hand therapy after surgery”, prepared with the precious help of one of the best hand therapists, G. Urso, from Milano. Very interested in hand dysfunctions and diseases, she travelled around the USA to learn as much as possible from several Hand Centers, spending most of the time in Philadelphia where she got to know Dr. Ostermann. Once back in Italy she went on studying and working on hand problems and collaborating with G. Urso (now Manager of Carrobiolo Center in Monza). In particular she spent a lot of energy and time in studying musician, artist and athlete biomechanics, in particular neuro-muscular system (balance, proprioceptive, coordination, pain modulation): first of all in hand and then in the hole body, in order to improve the professionist’s performance, prevent the risk of injury and recover from dysfunction and pain. In 2001 she also started a new path with C. Vanti in Bologna: she opened up to the Manual Therapy world, applied most of all to postural problems and spine dysfunctions. Since then, up to now, Carlotta never stopped her continuing education: she took several advanced training courses starting from the concepts of RPG, McKenzie, Maitland and evolving to approaches such as NOI, Kinetic Control, Performance Stability, SmarteRehab, Clinical Reasoning , EBP, Diagnosis e Treatment of Musculoskeletal System, Manipulative Techniques, Crafta, Vestibular Dysfunction treatment, RUSI, Dry Needeling, PTI-PGA (Certified Fitness Golf Instructor), inflamation and nutrition, Pain Management practice and many others.
Since 2002 she had several experiences as translator-interpreter in Manual Therapy courses held by e.g. P. Van Wijmen, Marc Jones, Pieter Westerhuis, Michiel Trouw and H. Von Piekartz. In 2003 she started exploring her interest in spine-TMJ connections and decided to broaden her knowledge by attending several courses with R. Strobbe, M. Roccabado and H. Von Piekartz and in 2010 the Master on TMJ Pathologies at the Sapienza – Rome University.
In 2004 she started several collaborations with dentists in Bologna until in January 2008 she participated to the birth of a cervical-cranium dysfunction study and care group where she still works as a Pt, in a team with a dentist, otorhinolaryngologist, oculist and neurologist. In 2005 she also participated to the foundation of a Manual Therapy Research Group with other Pts; in the same year she had her first experiences as teaching-assistant with C. Vanti and S. Ferrari for SIRI on “Integrated Rehabilitation in Low Back Pain and Dysfunctions” as well as with G. Urso at the  Manual Therapy Master of Padova University on “Upper Limb Dysfunctions”. In 2006 she has become CRAFTA assistant of H. Von Piekartz for his Crafta courses in Italy. Starting with the year 2007 she is officially holding the position of contract lecturer at the Manual Therapy Master of Padova University, first for the “Upper Limb Manual Therapy” and successively for “ATM Manual Therapy”. Since 2008 she is part of the Hand Surgery & Rehabilitation group of the Italian Institute of Hand Surgery (IICM), headed by Prof. Dr. M. Lanzetta. Since 11Feb 2010 she’s heading her own physiotherapy studio. Starting with the year 2013 she is holding a position as contract-lecturer for the “Upper Limb Manual Therapy” at the Master of “Fisioterapia applicata allo Sport” (Sport Therapy Master) of Siena University. Since 2013 she has been collaborating with colleagues in France and Swizerland. Since 2013 she has been studing pain modulation, body image and their management in clinical practice: she attended several corses with D.Butler, L.Mosley, J.Nijs, M.Meeus, M.Hoegh, T.A.Torstensen, R.Horst, S.Gibbons. From 2012 she attended the Master Degree Program in Riabilitation in Health Sciences at Siena University concluded in 2014 with summa cum laude. In 2015 she has started a PhD on central sensitization. In 2016 she founded FACEit, the Italian Society of Cervico-Cranio-Facial Integrated Therapy for Dysfunction and Pain, of which she is a board member in the role of vice-president and recieved the life honorary membership. In 2016 she also started new collaborations in the field of pain management, hand and cervico-cranio-facial therapy, climbing and golf movement analysis, aiming to injuries prevention, optimized care and training for a better performance. Next to her clinical activity in Bologna, on this subjects she provides consultancy in the area of Milano, Senigallia and Asiago.
 
During the years she dedicated a lot of time and energy in understanding human relations, especially within help, care and therapy: she took several courses and studied a lot on the experience of pain, social diseases, mind and body experiences connections, migrations and their consequences in mind and body health, cultural differences in body and pain perception and expression. In 2004 she completed a Master in “Politiche dell’Incontro e Mediazione Culturale” (“Contact Policies and Cultural Mediation”) at the Anthropology Dep. of the University Roma Tre. In 2005 she completed a Specialisation School of CESTAS in “International Cooperation”. On several occasions she participated to conferences and courses about Physiotherapy in the third world countries. She also participated in some Health and Social Cooperation Projects with several NGOs until in 2005, she started her own association called Sconfine, together with some colleagues from the master, sharing the same ideals: the Association concluded a Project in Rwanda about social integration of disabled people and is planning a new Project in the Bologna Region.
